I could describe my career so far, as a collection of different activities and an amalgamation of diversified roles. From drummer to producer, from percussion teacher to band leader or from event organizer to imaginative creator.
My talent for composing music, naturally evolved into a more defined concept, after a number of attempts made over a long stretch of time. It all started in 1999 with the composition for a 10 minutes film called Evolution. My love affair with visual as well as musical work, had already begun.
That year also marked the beginning of a long time collaboration with the film maker/director John Fisher.
What changed over time then, was how I learned to ensemble all the different ideas into a coordinated whole, not only with knowledge on music but also with knowledge on life. Any form of art cannot graciously develop without a grasp of the significance of life, in fact art is strictly connected to nature and human existence.
I was born and bred in Bologna, a northern town in Italy, where my early musical career was influenced partly by good spirit and sense of belonging, partly by a strong need to escape from my personal life.
The important change that defined me as an artist, was the move to London in 1993. Here I began a long period of intense work, between drumming, studying, teaching and embracing the hard school of life.
I was always captivated by the role of soundtracks and films, where photography and music engage the audience to a more personal level.
My musical Influences:
Charles Mingus, John Coltrane, J.S. Bach, Bernard Herrmann, Tito Puente and Ennio Morricone.
